Month 1 = Psychic Space
In this first month, we’re going to intentionally create space in our hearts, minds, and physical realities, so we can hold our creative practice with spaciousness. There is so much noise in the world right now. And rightly so in many ways. But still, we need to breathe. We’ll create space by creating tiny openings. A pinhole of sky. Literally, figuratively. Deep listening, and small creative acts. I’m offering some micro practices below to help create space. How can spaciousness help us attune to what’s alive for us?

Sky Meditation––
First thing in the morning.
Go outside, or look out a window.
Set a timer for 5 minutes, and stare at the sky.
Notice the shapes, colors, light, animals.
You do not need to write them down.
When you notice your attention drifting from the sky, gently bring it back.
Deep Listening —
“Listen to everything all the time and remind yourself when you are not listening... Listening involves a reciprocity of energy flow; exchange of energy; sympathetic vibration: tuning into the web of mutually supportive interconnected thoughts, feelings, dreams, vital forces comprising our lives; empathy; the basis for compassion and love.” - Pauline Oliveros, Quantum Listening
“Deep Listening is a practice that is intended to heighten and expand consciousness of sound in as many dimensions of awareness and attentional dynamics as humanly possible. Deep Listening is a form of meditation. Attention is directed to the interplay of sounds and silences or the sound/silence continuum. Sound is not limited to musical or speaking sounds, but is inclusive of all perceptible vibrations (sonic formations). The relationship of all perceptible sounds is important. The practice is intended to expand consciousness to the whole space/time continuum of sound/silences… The practice of Deep Listening is intended to facilitate creativity in art and life through this form of meditation. Creativity means the formation of new patterns, exceeding the limitations and boundaries of old patterns, or using old patterns in new ways.” - Pauline Oliveros, Deep Listening: A Composers Sound Practice
You can engage with deep listening informally throughout the day, or more formally in a short meditation.
Tapping for Spaciousness —
We’ll go over this in the meeting.
