VIRTUAL WORKSHOP
At this point in my life my song process is deeply internal, instinctual and receptive. I’m curious about how intuition informs the writing process and how we can engage with and nurture that. How we can use our deep feelings as guides. I’m curious about workshops that aren’t “workshops” but are more communal centers for exploration and making.
I’m curious to explore what makes the “magic” of songwriting or creating outside of its technical parts, and how we can honor that. I am curious about how our hearts, not minds — make it into our writing (or how they don’t).
The entire workshop will be framed within a container of guided meditation to access deep wells of creativity, ritual and connecting to our heart space (the deepest well of our feelings). Here is a rough outline of what we’ll explore week to week —
Week 1 - The Power of Feeling
exploring “feeling” in song - how do we amplify feelings in songs? both sonically, energetically, rhythmically and lyrically - we start with the heart
Week 2 - The Power of Language
exploring the power of language and how it can unlock new possibilities for ourselves. in terms of affirmation and “power words” as well as in the context of lyric writing. we will also explore how we can use language to create a future vision.
Week 3 - The Power of Emulation
exploring how we use emulation, saturation and building meaningful and purposeful habits to create music we love. who do we emulate and why? how to we get the music we love to really sink in?
Week 4 - The Power of Sharing
what does it bring up when we share our work with the wider world? we’ll share songs with each other, discuss community and collaboration and moving forward.
